What was wearing high heels like when you first wore them?
The first time I wore heels was when I did the Walk a Mile in
Her Shoes event held near me. I bought the LeDame
Natalie heels (4" heel pump) which were and are the official heels for the
event. As some of you know Walk
a Mile in Her Shoes is a playful opportunity for men to raise
awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects and remediations
to men's sexualized violence against women. We, the men participating in the
event walk a mile in heels to raise money and awareness of rape, sexual assault
and gender violence against women.
Before
the event I had never worn heels before so the day of the event I listened
closely to the woman giving us guys instructions on how to walk in heels. I
must admit that I was nervous about this, but was also intrigued by the heels I
had on. Thankfully the route was fairly level and smooth or it could have been
a lot harder.
To say
that my first venture on heels was a resounding success would have been a gross
overstatement! I was wobbling (like most of the other men) all over the place
as I tried to balance and walk in the heels. Now I listened to the instructions
we were given so at the least, I was trying to walk correctly in the heels! And
yes, I did make it for the complete route and was still able to walk to a
degree. My feet were not happy with me and I had more than a couple sore spots
on my feet.
Fast
forward now two plus years and I can now walk smoothly and confidently in
heels. I found out during doing that event that I love the way heels look on me
and ultimately how they feel and make me feel. I no longer get sore spots on my
feet and my legs muscle have developed to make my strut smooth. So now days I
wear heels most every day wherever I go.
Any guy that reads this, please give it serious thought and
support the charity Walk
a Mile in Her Shoes. This is for a great cause and can help to change society
for the better for both men and women.
